Or Does It Explode
As it turned out, Madison post-rock outfit Or Does it Explode? took the title of Chrysalis, their 2022 album, quite literally — by morphing into a quintet with the addition of a second singer to their musical arsenal. The initial recorded results, The Medium is the Message, debuts at this concert. It expands on their already wide-ranging blend of crooked melodicism, clangorous guitar skronk, and hooks in unexpected places. With The Present Age.

media release: Or Does It Explode will play the Memorial Union Terrace on August 18th, 2023 to celebrate the release of their new full-length album, The Medium is the Message. They will be joined by The Present Age.
…or Does it Explode? (oDiE) has made a name for themselves in the local Madison, WI music scene over the past three years. Guitarist Brandon Boggess, bassist J Granberg guitarist/singer Shawn Bass, and drummer Erik Rasmuson released their first full length, Chrysalis, in 2022 to rave reviews. As the year came to a close, oDiE morphed by adding singer Katya Southland.
Their new full-length release, The Medium is the Message, showcases the expanded lineup and offers exciting growth for the band. While maintaining the Midwest emo, post-hardcore, and post-rock elements from their previous album, it also displays some touches of math rock and leans into more angular playing. The Medium is the Message will be released on August 18th in physical form (CD), on Bandcamp, and on all popular streaming services. The band will play select tracks live to celebrate its release at the Memorial Union Terrace that evening. Bands start at 7pm, and the event is free and all ages—including beautiful views of Lake Mendota as the backdrop.
oDiE is ecstatic for the release, and this will be a night of celebration!
